Summer Tours: Let the Fun Begin!

Vacations during summer are simply the best, wouldn’t you agree? The weather is warm, the sun is shining and there is a feeling of adventure in the air. Where have you been thinking of visiting this summer? JAG Tours has several great tours planned for this summer, but just to give you a sample, let’s talk about three awesome trips that you’ll definitely want to consider.

Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons

Our travels will take us to Rapid City, South Dakota for the first night. The next day, we’ll make our way to the Big Horn Mountains on the way to Cody, Wyoming, where we will visit the Buffalo Bill Museum and the Cody Rodeo. We’ll spend the night in Cody. The following day we’ll enter the east gate of Yellowstone and head to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Later, we’ll enjoy a stop at Mammoth Hot Springs. We’ll overnight in West Yellowstone, Montana. In the morning, we’ll take in the glorious Old Faithful and the Old Faithful Lodge. We’ll visit Jenny Lake on our Way to Moose, Wyoming where our adventure will kick into high gear as we board big rafts and float down the Snake River. We will spend the night in Jackson, Wyoming. The next day, we’ll journey down the steep Wind River Canyon and later enjoy a guided tour of Hot Springs State Park. We’ll stay in Thermopolis, Wyoming. There is a hot mineral spring on the property, for your enjoyment! As we begin our journey back home, we’ll pass through Ten Sleep and the southern Big Horn Mountains. This trip is sure to be an awe-inspiring sightseeing adventure!  (June 22-28)

Canadian Rockies

Get your passport ready…we’re heading to Canada! We’ll begin our journey north and spend our first night in Minot, North Dakota. The next day, we’ll cross the border into Canada en route to Medicine Hat, Alberta. The following day, we’ll visit Banff National Park and enjoy a gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain, where we’ll be able to see six mountain ranges! We’ll spend two nights in Banff, so you’ll have lots of time to explore on your own. We’ll travel the Columbia Icefields Parkway through Banff and Jasper National Parks on our way to our Snowcoach ride on the Athabasca Glacier. We’ll also enjoy visits to Peyto Lake and the incomparable Lake Louise. The next day, we’ll continue our journey as we head to Calgary, where we’ll spend two nights. We’ll visit the Calgary Olympic Park and later go to Stampede Park where we’ll take in the Chuckwagon Races and grandstand show. The next day we’ll take in the Calgary Stampede Rodeo. As we begin our journey south, we’ll cross back into the United States on our way to our overnight stop in Great Falls, Montana. Our last overnight together will be in Bismarck, North Dakota. The Canadian Rockies are magnificent, and this tour is jampacked with some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere—be sure to bring your camera! (July 6-14)

Southwest Circle

If you’re thinking about taking an action-packed tour out West this summer, this tour is it! In just one tour, we’ll visit Arches National Park in Utah, tour Hoover Dam in Nevada and spend two night is Las Vegas. We’ll even have a free day in Las Vegas! From Las Vegas, we’ll head to Los Angeles, tour the Warner Bros. Studio and spend two nights near the pier in Santa Monica. While in L.A., we’ll have a step-on guide show us Hollywood, Sunset Boulevard and the Walk of Fame. From L.A., we’ll head to Fresno, California, for the night. Next up on this breathtaking tour is Yosemite National Park! From Yosemite, we’ll journey on to Carson City, Nevada where we’ll overnight. The next day we’ll see the very unique Great Salt Lake and Desert and spend the night in Salt Lake City, Utah. While there, you can visit Tabernacle Square and see the world-renowned Mormon Tabernacle. From Salt Lake City, we’ll begin our journey home. This tour is full of variety, great sightseeing and lots of fun! (July 20-August 2)

Winter Tours – Getaway to Sun-drenched Climates

Getting out of the cold, snow and ice for a relaxing vacation may just be the cure for the winter doldrums! Imagine frolicking on a sandy beach or feeling the warmth of the sun on your face…

Florida

Our Florida tour is a popular winter tour, and it’s easy to see why! Our motorcoach will whisk us away to warmer weather. Upon arrival in Florida, we will visit Destin, where we will enjoy a fun dolphin cruise. We’ll head to Clearwater Beach for 2 nights where we’ll visit the Clearwater Aquarium and have free time to explore on your own. Continuing on our journey, we’ll head south to Key West where we will spend one night. While there, we’ll get oriented by taking a city tram tour. We’ll also have free time to relax and take in the sights. From Key West, we’ll make our way to the Fort Lauderdale area where we’ll spend 2 nights. While there, we’ll delight in the “Venice of America” riverfront cruise, featuring Millionaire’s Row and enjoy a free day. Leaving Fort Lauderdale, we’ll visit Kennedy Space Center on our way to Daytona Beach. This tour is sure to warm you up! (Jan. 25 – Feb. 6)

Arizona

If you prefer the desert southwest, our Arizona tour is sure to delight! We’ll have a grand time as we visit some of the most beautiful places in our country. Upon arrival in Arizona, we’ll visit Tombstone and enjoy stops at the famous O.K. Corral and Boot Hill Cemetery. We will journey on to the Tucson area where we’ll visit old Tucson movie sets, Pima Air & Space Museum and Sonora Desert Museum. We’ll also visit Salt River Canyon and enjoy a river cruise. After a free day, we’ll visit Montezuma Castle as we journey to Sedona Canyon and enjoy a beautiful drive through Oak Creek Canyon. We’ll spend the night in Flagstaff. In the morning, we’ll venture off to the south rim of the Grand Canyon where we will make several photo stops. From there, we will travel to Winslow for the night before beginning our trip back home. If you are intrigued by the Old West and dramatic desert landscapes, this is the tour for you! (Feb. 16 – 27)

Washington, D.C. Tour

Our nation’s capital is never more beautiful than in the springtime when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. This fantastic tour includes visits to many of the best-known memorials and world-famous museums. Our adventure also includes guided tours of Gettysburg and the Gettysburg Battlefield. Everything you’d expect in a tour of Washington, D.C. and more! (March 30 – April 7)

Smoky Mountains & Ark Encounter Tour

The Smoky Mountains are always beautiful, no matter when you visit. Our tour takes us to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg where we’ll see shows and visit the sights. We’ll also enjoy visits to both the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. This tour is sure to enchant and entertain you as we explore the Smoky Mountain area! (April 27 – May 2)

Fall Tours: Enjoy a Fun & Memorable Getaway

A relaxing getaway after a busy summer is a great way to transition into fall, wouldn’t you agree? With that thought in mind, we’ve got a lot of fun tours lined up for fall. Check out the exciting trips we’ve planned for you:

South Dakota Tour

The Black Hills and the many unique attractions in the area are on the docket for this tour! If you’ve never been to the Black Hills, this tour is definitely for you! We will visit Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Tatanka: Story of the Bison, and drive through the Custer State Wildlife Loop all while enjoying the spectacular beauty of the Black Hills. We’ll even visit a gold mine and have some free time in historic Deadwood. To top off the fun, we’ll also stop at Wall Drug and the Badlands on our journey back home. (August 30 - Sept. 2)


Washington D.C. (and Gettysburg) Tour

This fantastic action-packed tour takes us to our nation’s capital and a journey through our country’s storied history. You won’t want to miss this tour! On our way to Washington, D.C., we will spend 2 nights in Gettysburg. We’ll have a guided tour of Gettysburg and the Battlefield and have free time to explore Gettysburg. Later, we’ll enjoy a visit to Mount Vernon as we continue our journey. Upon arrival in Washington, D.C. we will have guided tours of the World War II Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Iwo Jima Memorial, National Cathedral, Embassy Row and Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and more. We’ll learn more about the White House and U.S. Capitol Building, and we’ll also visit Arlington National Cemetery where we’ll see John F. Kennedy’s gravesite along with Robert and Ted Kennedy’s gravesites. While at Arlington National Cemetery, we will see the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Space Shuttle Challenger Memorial. Best of all, we’ll have 1 ½ days of free time to explore Washington, D.C. so you can visit any other attractions of your choosing. (Sept. 8 – 16)


Carolinas in the Fall

We’ve got some spectacular attractions planned for this tour! We’ll wind our way through the Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains on our journey. In Asheville, North Carolina, we’ll visit the incomparable Biltmore Estate which has a whopping 250 rooms! Later we’ll visit Charleston, South Carolina and enjoy a guided carriage tour of historic Charleston. Our visit to the Charleston area even includes a tour of a plantation! As our journey continues, our travels take us to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where our hotel rooms—for 3 nights—have ocean-views! While in Myrtle Beach, we’ll take in Brookgreen Gardens, enjoy a memorable show at the Alabama Theatre and have ample free time to explore the area. (October 20-29)

MYSTERY TOUR

If you want to add a bit of intrigue to your life, our Mystery Tour is for you! This fun 6-day tour is packed with surprises and unexpected activities. We’ll visit Banff, Jasper and Kootenay National Parks. We’ll also explore the incomparable Lake Louise (one of the world’s best-known and loved lakes). NORTHWEST CIRCLE

This tour has it all! Grand Coulee Dam, Seattle, the always-entertaining Pike Place Market, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helen’s, Grants Pass, the gorgeous California Coast, the towering Redwoods on the Avenue of the Giants, San Francisco, 2 nights at the famed Fisherman’s Wharf, Reno, Nevada and Salt Lake City, with a visit to Temple Square and Mormon Tabernacle. This tour is even more jam-packed than that last sentence! Seriously, this tour is loaded with fantastic attractions and sightseeing activities—with something fun for everyone. NEW YORK CITY

New York, New York! The Big Apple! The City that Never Sleeps! No matter the nickname, New York City is one-of-a-kind. We’ll spend 4 nights in New York City (Manhattan) and our hotel is in the Theatre District at Times Square. We’ll visit Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and much more. We’ll also enjoy an amazing city tour of New York and attend a Broadway play. Plus, we’ll have 1 ½ days of free time in New York City! NORSK HOSTFEST (Minot, North Dakota)

Norsk Hostfest celebrates the Scandinavian culture of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. Norsk Hostfest is the largest Scandinavian festival in North America, featuring top-notch entertainment, authentic Scandinavian foods and merchandise. There are numerous entertainment options—the only problem will be deciding which performances to attend! This tour promises to provide lots of fun and entertainment for all! (September 25-29)

Florida Coasts

If you’re looking for lots of sunshine, beaches and miles of coastline, this is the tour for you! We’ll whisk you away to sunny Florida and where you’ll enjoy a big sweeping loop around the gorgeous Florida coastline delighting in memorable sights and experiences. As we travel along the Florida Panhandle we will glide along the Gulf Coast, slip down to the very tip of Florida and soak in the show-stopping sunset in Key West. As we continue our journey up the East Coast of Florida, we’ll create more unforgettable memories of our getaway while soaking in Florida’s bright sunshine. (Feb. 2-13)

Texas

If your idea of a winter getaway includes soaking up lots of history and learning more about our nation’s past, this is your tour! We have lots of awesome historical sites and places of interest packed into our getaway to Texas. We’ll visit the Alamo, LBJ Ranch, Dealey Plaza, NASA Space Center, Fort Worth Stockyards, and many more memorable attractions. We’ll also journey to Corpus Christi where you can dip your toes in the Gulf of Mexico. This tour includes plenty of free time to explore, shop and take in the unique flavors of the Lone Star State. New Orleans & The Gulf Coast

Our getaway to the Deep South is mixed with plenty of attractions and lots of variety. We’ll visit battleships, take a shrimping boat tour and delight in free time in New Orleans. We’ll even traverse the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway which is the longest bridge in the world! Other attractions include visits to the French Quarter, the Mardi Gras Museum, World War II Museum, a swamp boat tour, antebellum mansions and even a tour of a working plantation and cotton gin. We’ll also tour the Vicksburg Battlefield, which was one of the most decisive battles of the Civil War. (Mar. 11-20)

With autumn here, our days are definitely cooler and our evenings are getting longer—soon the excitement of the holiday season will be upon us. That can mean only one thing: it’s time to get into the spirit of Christmas!  What better way to do it than to visit places well known for their Christmas attractions, world-class shopping opportunities, or Broadway-caliber holiday shows? 

Christmas tours are amazing because it seems as if there truly is magic in the air during this oh-so-special time of the year. BRANSON CHRISTMAS

We have three amazing tours to Branson—each of them offers a wonderful variety of entertaining shows and other interesting highlights. If you’ve never been to Branson, you owe it to yourself to find out for yourself why it’s remained a popular destination for years—especially at Christmas time! We’ll see many of the tops acts and enjoy sightseeing in the breathtakingly beautiful and ever-so-hilly Ozarks area. Tour dates Nov. 1-5 (includes a delightful excursion to Eureka Springs), Nov. 8-12, and Nov. 15-19.

CHICAGO CHRISTMAS SHOPPING

Another fantastic tour is our “Chicago Christmas Shopping” tour (Dec. 1-3). We’ll whisk you away to Chicago where our first stop will be at Navy Pier which juts 3,300 feet out into Lake Michigan and offers restaurants, shops and a variety of entertainment. The views of Chicago’s skyline from Navy Pier are breathtaking and may indeed be the best part of the trip!

We’ll also visit Christkindlmarket—an outdoor holiday market located in Daley Plaza in downtown Chicago.  Reminiscent of the Christkindlmarket in Nuremberg, Germany, Chicago’s Christkindlmarket features a variety of German foods and beverages. Just imagine: fresh strudel, snow balls, warm pretzels, delicious schnitzel, weisswurst, yummy baked apples, German beers and other goodies too numerous to mention! There is also a wide variety of entertainment and unique holiday shopping opportunities to enjoy at the open-air market. Christkindlmarket is a favorite and much-loved stop for many visitors to Chicago!

You’ll also have ample time to shop along the appropriately named Magnificent Mile, which is widely regarded as one of the best shopping destinations in the country! This shopping district on North Michigan Avenue is oozing with upscale boutiques, department stores and charming restaurants amid a backdrop of Chicago’s glorious architecture like the Chicago Water Tower, the Tribune Tower and the Wrigley Building. This is truly shopping at its finest!

This shopping tour to Chicago will appeal to multi-taskers—you get to enjoy the holiday festivities in Chicago, do some sightseeing and get your holiday shopping done! Plus, we’ll navigate the traffic so you can relax and soak in the sights of Chicago’s stunning skyline.

OMAHA – CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD

We will also be pilgriming to Omaha for our fascinating “Christmas Around the World” tour (Dec. 6-10). This tour is action-packed with a wide variety of activities. We’ll enjoy an international Christmas celebration: Olde England Madrigal Christmas feast, Christmas in the Ukraine presentation, Christmas in Germany dinner, Greek holiday dinner and an Irish music and dance presentation. We’ll also visit the Lauritzen Botanical Gardens to take in the Poinsettia Show, enjoy a performance of “The Christmas Carol” and take in many more fun activities!
